Discovering The TikTok Viral French Skincare Products.

Source Unknown.

After recently spending a lot of Paris for Fashion Week I found myself checking Instagram and TikTok for the best things to do whilst visiting the French capital. Amongst scrolling through viral go-to cafe’s for pastries to endless videos of girls hitting up the Eiffel Tower in their sequin dresses, I couldn’t help but notice the amount of videos focussing on French skincare and particularly about visiting local pharmacies. I decided to delve deeper into this and found that one of the most popular things to do if you are visiting France is exploring French pharmacies for skincare products. I soon realised that so many of the French brands that are stocked in the U.K can be purchased from these pharmacies at a fraction of the price. From then on, I made it my mission to visit as many French pharmacies as I could during the rest of my trip to pick up the viral products, and lucky for me there seems to be a pharmacy on the corner of every street I visited! Below is a breakdown of how I found each product, some of which you may have seen many times across your local beauty retailers!

+ Avène Eau Thermal Spring Water

The Avène thermal spring water was the first thing that caught my eye, mainly because of how big the bottle was but also because I have never tried something like this as part of my skincare routine, its definitely a new step that I had to incorporate in my already never ending skincare routine but I have really been enjoying using this! Its a skin purifying, thermal water spray which soothes, softens and calms skin whilst rebalancing neutral pH levels. I have been using this in the morning after washing my face with water and not only does it make my skin feel super clean but it also helps make me feel more awake first thing in the morning. I will definitely be buying another one of these.

Avène Thermal Spring Water can be purchased from Sephora & Superdrug in the UK.

+ Biafine

This was the second thing that caught my eye and I am actually sad that I didn’t pick up another couple of tubes after doing more research post my Paris trip! This is a French skin care product which was launched all the way back in the 70’s so is a staple skincare product for women all over France. An active ingredient in this is squalane, which you might recognise from recently skincare trading products as as an ingredient which reduces moisture loss. This makes Biafine a great moisturiser but also primer for before makeup. Biafine is also acknowledged for its ability to heal burns and after researching into the product I learnt that hair stylists swear by this product for heat tool burns! The feel of this product is something between a lotion and a cream so its not too thick when you apply it, which I love. This was the first time I was hearing about it and on a side note the packaging is super cool. Also, the tube is pretty big so I feel like its going to last me a really long time.

Biafine can be purchased on Amazon UK.

+ Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré

This personally was a huge throwback moment because I used to use this all the time. It smells amazing and has always been really good for my skin, I used to recommend it to everyone so I knew when I saw it popping up on peoples pharmacy Tiktok’s that I had to stock up on a couple of bottles. This is another product that works really well as both a primer and moisturiser or even a beauty mask and after doing some research I learnt that it can also be used as part of post-shaving care!

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré can be purchased from Sephora & Beauty Bay in the UK.

+ Avène Cleanance Micellar Water

I didn’t buy one of these myself, but my friend did and I used it during our Paris trip. This is a cleansing, magnifying micellar water and it does just what it says on the bottle. I occasionally have an oily T-zone and I noticed that this took all the oil away from my face and gave me a lasting matte texture. It also works really well as a makeup remover and I even tried it on my waterproof mascara, on which it did remove most of the mascara. I would definitely get a bottle on my next trip, as its a great micellar water for a double cleanse!

Avène Cleanance Micellar Water can be purchased from Look Fantastic & Boots in the UK.

+ La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ Repairing Balm

During the trip, we heard so much about this product that I had to grab a few tubes! The La Roche-Posay’s Cicaplast Baume B5+ is enriched with new Tribioma (a unique prebiotic complex) combined with 5% of vitamin B5 and madecassoside. Enriched with antibacterial agents’ zinc and manganese, the formula provides the optimal environment skin needs for its healing process, reducing the causes of long-term scarring. Research also showed that its been clinically proven to immediately soothe uncomfortable, damaged, or irritated skin and to provide the optimal conditions for faster and better repair from day 1! I have been using this since getting back to the U.K and I did notice a difference in my skin texture after the first day of use. I am completely obsessed with this product and would definitely grab some more next time!

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ Repairing Balm can be purchased from Look Fantastic & Boots in the UK.

+ La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micro-Peeling Purifying Gel Wash

I had already been using this for months before my Paris trip, as I heard its really good for textured skin and particularly ‘strawberry skin’ and in-growing hairs. I can confirm that this product does exactly what it says. I have been using it in the shower as a body wash and not only does it last for months as you only need to use the smallest amount, but it has also cleared up my ingrowing hairs and any texture on my skin from shaving. The Salicylic Acid in this gel wash works by getting right to the bottom of pores and cleaning them from the inside, super effective yet gentle. If you are like me and you have struggles with those annoying little bumps from shaving or any persistent stubborn imperfections, this will become your go-to.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micro-Peeling Purifying Gel Wash can be purchased from Sephora, Superdrug & Look Fantastic in the UK.
